Let’s talk Laundry
I have a real love/hate relationship with my washing machine.
Love it, as I can have a load washed in under an hour.
Hate it, as I’m sat here writing this; my second load of the day is on. Yep just gone 9am and my first load is on the line already – got to make the most of the weather! The spin cycle gets on my nerves; carries on for what feels like forever making more noise than my toddler, the TV and her toys put together!
A typical weeks laundry load is made up of my partner’s work clothes, washed separately from everything else, then a mix up of mine, our toddler’s and his day clothes. A dark and whites load. And bedding and towels.
Long gone are the hours were my laundry basket is empty, its minutes before a rogue sock suddenly appears.
Picking a laundry detergent
When it comes to laundry detergent it has to be suitable for all of us. The power to remove stains – mainly toddler related like food, grass or the opps-I-spilt-paint-at-nursery stains. And a long lasting scent.
I’ve been putting Ecover’s new Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Detergent to the test. From your baby’s first wash to the average bedding load, this dermatologically tested, plant-based Non-Bio formula delivers spotlessly clean results, even on a cold wash.
The scent… I love it!, I have to have a good smell before pouring. Its their new delightful naturally-inspired fragrance – Lavender & Sandalwood.
My top favourite things about freshly washed laundry are:
- the scent once the cycle has finished and I’ve opened the door to the washing machine
- line drying, especially towels and bedding
- dressing our toddler and requesting a cuddle to take in the fresh laundry scent
- a fresh towel after a bath/shower
- fresh clean bedding! – makes me want to hibernate
Things I can’t stand about doing our laundry; putting a fresh load on the line and the weather has other ideas. And tumble drying; though I don’t mind this too much, the hum from the machine can get abit too much, but my freshly washed laundry just doesn’t seem, to me, to hold its fresh scent as long.
How did we get on?
It’s been a fortnight (and an average of 3-4 loads a week) later and I’m quite impressed with Ecover.
Our toddler’s clothing is coming out the machine clean with no signs of stains. My partner claims his clothes feel softer. For me, I’m just loving the scent and how little we need to use.
With a standard cap full (35ml) and a dirtier load, for my partner’s workwear, (53ml) we are saving money.
I’d fully recommend every family give Ecover’s new Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Detergent a try.
